and I want something that will keep the red in my hair as best as it possibly can, because I know red is a difficult color to hold on to.Which is a better shampoo for dyed red hair?
Ion makes really pretty colors. I use their blonde.

it's VERY difficult!!! I would suggest, if you can afford it, to get it done professionally for the first time and do your touch ups at home. If you have any color in your hair at all, you need it pulled out before the red will even show up, much less stay. as for shampoo, i like aveda. either madder root or color conserve. but DO NOT USE the madder root conditioner, it could potentially turn your hair pinkish as it as color deposits in it. the color conserve conditioner is the way to go. also, get a uv protector spray if you spend any time outdoors.
I am a natural redhead. If you do have blonde hair or a light hair color,I will just warn you that it will not come out right....If you have somewhat darker hair then it should be fine. I have seen people dye their hair red before when they have light hair and it comes out orange...literally lol. I use John Frieda to make my highlight stand out...and it works great with me. But I don't know if it works well with dyed hair. But go with John Fried...AND RED HAIR IS AN AWESOME HAIR COLOR!!
When the red starts to fade, salons sell color conditioner or shampoos. They have red pigment in them, and there are different hues of reds. ex: copper red, red violet etc. A local beauty supply store will have them also.
